A friend gave me this small piece of Mesquite several months ago. It was absolutely alive with bug. I basically soaked it in pesticides and set it aside until this morning. Decided I would tackle it and this is what I came up with. It measures 7" long x 5-3/4" wide and 3-1/4" at its tallest point. Antique oil finish, and will buff later. Your comments good and bad are always welcome. Thanks for looking.

Wow Keith that is beautiful. I bet turning was a bear. I really like the way it turned out. The finish is great. Nice job.

Wow! Holey bowl, Batman! Think of all the critters that are now homeless.

That's turned out real nice, Keith! Mesquite is always a pleasure to turn and you did it justice.

Great looking NE!!!!!
Ya know lately, I have been leaving my wood outside for some hoping for some bugs to infest but for some reason I can't get them to start eating>>>>
Could it be that I live in Illinois and it's below zero??

Thanks guys !! I was afraid it would end up in a pile on the floor but I'm finding out that wood is a lot stronger than we think. That, plus the fact I wrapped the outside with tape before doing the inside.

Ya know...that reminds me of the infested cherry I had a couple years ago. I ended up burning it because it was in such bad shape. You just showed that I shouldn't have burned it.:(

Nice lookin' piece. May your bugs rest in peace.:)

.....or may they die meaningless deaths...whatever's most convenient.:)
