A couple of months ago my yougest son brought home this cabinet

and asked if I could make the missing bottom drawer. Sure Mike doesn't look to hard (of course I have never made any drwers so far, but what the heck :( .) I go crazy trying to find a router bit to make the drawer pull. Finally am told the only way is with a CNC router, so that is out of the question. So here is the drawer with a pretend finger pull :D

Now he says, can I store it for him till he moves back to Tucson and then he will decide on a finish. Whats' a mother to do? Here is the completed cabinet minus the finish sitting in my supposed den.

Anyway all things aside I was really impressed at how well it came out. Thanks for looking.:)

Very nice work. I think the finish on the drawer should just "match" the rest of the piece... ;)

I can't tell from the pics - is the drawer pull recessed into the face, or mounted on the front?

Used to live around Bear Creek and Tanque Verde. Have you ever gone down to that mesquite lumber yard down near Nogales - actually north of it in a little place I can't remember the name of. Sorta around Rio Rico.

Wow! Now that I can see the pictures, that's really a nice job. I particularly like how the swirley grain at the top of the new drawer seems to match what was already at the bottom of the old drawer. Looks like they were made at the same time and the new drawer just hasn't been finished yet.

Great job!!

Thanks all. The grain matching was really just coincidence (maybe I should say how hard it was to do:D ). That drawer front was the only piece of 5/4 oak I had available. The drawer pull was made by using a pattern I made and routing it out. (stealth gloat-new router bit as part of the deal). Then used a dremel on the inner bottom edge of pull to make small area to grasp with fingertips.
