Veneer Question

Hi all - I'm starting to map out a hall bench for our front corridor.

I expect it'll receive the normal treatment - books, bags, puses, briefcases dumped on it and a good number of people sitting on it to put their shoes on.

How well would veneer hold up in this type of application? Or, should I bite the bullet and make it out of solid wood and ....

Howard, as long as it's glued down thoroughly, and finished with a durable topcoat, it will hold up just fine. The arisses are always the first to chip or dent, so if you apply a solid wood edging, wrapping your veneered flat surfaces, you are ahead of the game. Todd.
