This one ended up 6" tall and about 4-1/4" wide... it's 1/8" thick from the lip thru to the bottom... It has a very glossy finish that doesn't show in the pictures... buffed antique oil finish...

All comments/critiques/opinions/suggestions/etc welcomed.

Mark, you made it a natural beauty. The form is not one you see every day, and I really like it. The wood speaks for itself, but it would not be able to say a thing if you had not put such a nice finish on it.

Wow, that's a beauty Mark! 1/8" thick eh? I'll bet that was singing on the last few cuts. Inquiring minds want to know, why did you decide to go so thin? It's such a pretty piece of wood I know I would have chickened out way before that. That's a real nice, unique shape too. I really like it.

Thanks everyone - I appreciate it....

The wood just "spoke" to me........LOL.......seriously, it just seemed to look right the thinner I went, so I just took my time and took light cuts.

Hi Mark,

This is a very nice piece. How did you finish the interior? Also, was wood movement a problem?

How did you finish the interior?

Just sanded and applied oil.

Also, was wood movement a problem?

Turned it green - left it plenty thick - soaked in DNA - dried on the rack for a few weeks - finish turned. Lots of movement while drying, but I was prepared based on info from other turners who have turned Madrone burl before.
