I just have to show off a little! These are woods of mine produced in small amounts for the duck/goose/turkey call makers. Take a look and let me know what you think. These artists did the wood right.

if there is a call in specific that you like I would be more than glad to put you in contact with the artist.

Evidently I did not make myself crystal clear in this post. I supplied the wood in these calls in trade for the calls. I am very proud to be the owner of these calls and I am proud to have found the wood that was used to make these calls. In no way am I taking credit for making the calls. I am sorry for offending some of you that felt I took credit for your work. I thought my statements in my first and later posts made that clear, but I am sorry if you were offended. I thought it would be nice to post pictures of the fine turning that was done on these in another forum that could appreciate the work.

These calls are in my collection, other than two given as an appreciation gift. I personally find them awesome.

Bonnie--

I really should have taken a picture of Dad's face when I gave it to him. he had no idea it was on its way. My poor Mom is loosing her mind hearing turkeys in the house, in the garden, in the garage, and from the barn! LOL.

Have you been able to find any green woods to turn?

I did up a natural edged ash bowl from a chunk a friend gave me. So far that's all I've had. My husband loves the bowl (I think it's God awful lol) So he gets to keep it

I am afraid shipping the green stuff would be expensive, but I have not had time to double check it either.

Now Dan! I've explained flat rate boxes to you before. They can weight, I think it is, up to 70 pounds and cost the same price (someone correct me with the max weight if I'm wrong). My husband gets lead shipped in them all the time lol Of course the mailman hates us :p

Dan,
The woods and the calls look beautiful, someday I need to take the time to learn how to make these along with getting some fine wood like yours! PM is ok!

I know the situation your mother is in, I put my wife through that 20 years ago till I was good enough to call a turkey hunter within 30 yards to shoot me from behind with 12ga 00 buckshot and roll me over from my sitting position behind a big pine tree, ya should have seen the look on his face when he came to gut me looking at my double barrel! Haven't hunted since knowing my hearing was bad enough for him to get that close!

Just going to put my two cents in here to make sure there aren't any more mistakes on the calls Dan has posted pictures of. Dan did NOT make the calls. He supplied various call makers with the wood and asked if we would make him a call of our choice with HIS wood.

I was very happy to be one of many he'd picked to make a call. I enjoyed my chance to work with the redwood, plain and root burl. And I'm glad he is satisfied with the calls :)

Thanks again Bonnie.

Not my calls, but if you are looking for a call and like one of these I can tell you more about the guys/gals who made them, including contact information [if you have trouble getting it from the photo].

I am just proud to be the owner of these calls.

Boy Dan, I should would like to hear some cackles, clucks purrs and yelps on those slates. I bet they resonate through the woods to those longbeards. GOBBLE-GOBBLE!!!

Steve---

Nice to see you on this forum too.

I will have more woods available soon. I hope to see some amazing products made from them. Although money does sometimes change hands, I really want people who will appreciate the woods that we have locally to have the opportunity to make art from them. Sounds sappy [no pun intended], but it is very true.

If someone offered me $100/bf and I knew they were planning to chip it, I would tell them good-bye in order to sell it for $5/bf to a door maker.
