What 80 grit wheel is best for plane irons and chisels? I'm finding more pink and blue wheels these days than white, but is white still the best option?

The color isn't important...the wheel specifications are. White blue and pink wheels are generally AO (or ceramic for some of the blue wheels) which is what you want. You can also add light green for the Norton 3x. I run the Norton 3X wheels and have a 60 and a 100 grit on the grinder. While my use is mostly for turning tools, these wheels (which also run with the OneWay balancing system) cut smoothly and don't load up. Be aware that wheels can also be rated for speed...if the wheels you are considering are specificed for either high speed use or low speed us, pick the formula that matches your grinder.

Thanks Jim. It starts getting confusing when they all start running together in terms of their features, makeup, etc.

Green being my favorite color , maybe I ought to search out the Nortons and I can accessorize.
