Here in AZ I can't seem to find any Holley. Anyone have a reasonable source?

Gilmer in Portland, OR will probably have some stock of it. I bought some 4/4 about a year and a half ago for about $10/bd ft. They do charge $10 packaging fee on top of shipping fees so it might not be economical to buy from them.

Doesn't Gilmer have a minimum order amount? I thought it was something like $100 or $150 but could be wrong, and maybe they've changed it. Anyway, eBay is worth a look. I've picked up a few holly boards there at pretty good prices.

If your a member of the Az. Woodturners, check with Dwight Klaus. i know he uses it alot with his segmented turnings. He might have a local source. Sean

Do a google seach. Gilmerwood.com does sometimes have it, but they have a $100 min. order amount. Don't go there or you'll get addicted to wood porn.:D I buy from them fairly regularly. It would be nice to have a Northwest coast turner to come up with a domestic supply. I'd like to get some too. Maybe..................

Hey Bill. I do have some 4/4 but it's only been stickered for about 2 months and still on the green side. I could also send you a 8.5 x 11 x 5.5 blank and you could cut it your self if it's for segmented stuff. Thats the bigger flat rate box. If this will do let me know.

That would be great. Let me know what I need to do. I've never worked with it but I like the contrast you can get with it. Pretty soon it'll be in the 100's, everything drys up:eek: Thank you and everyone very much.:D I'll try to do something very unique with it.

I have purchased holly from an ebay seller several times: ncwood. He even custom cut me some for a special project. Very easy to deal with. I have no connection other than a satisfied customer.

Whats its texture like? Is it like maple or walnut? I just turned a spalted maple piece and it was so soft I could have used my fingernail to cut it. I really like the almost white color.

It cuts a lot like maple only better. Very smooth. Finishes like glass and is very hard when dry. I made a hat with it and was able to get it super thin without to much trouble. If you want it super white it bleaches up with no problem. You should get it by Thursday seeing your on the wrong side of the country.:D

Hi Kurt. Just wanted to say I got the piece of Holley today. Thank you very much. I have something very special in mind for this. It'll be a 2 piece turning. One passing through the other. I'll post my drawing tomorrow. If I can pull it off. It'll be quite a piece. Thanks again very much that was very kind of you. I'll keep you posted. P.S. If you ever need Mesquite we have tons of it here.:D
