Are the cutters for the Veritas router plane interchangeable with those of the Stanley 71(71-1/2). The reason I ask is there are a lot of 71s always listed on eBay but rarely do they have nice blades, if I could use the Veritas blades the choice of plnes will become quite broad for me.

Send Lee Valley an e-mail and ask. They respond quickly, in my experience.

I thought I recalled reading that the cutters would fit when the initial reviews or product announcements came out. LV's site doesn't specifically say "Yes these will fit Stanleys" but it does have the following:

Includes three cutters: 1/4" and 1/2" straight, and 1/2" pointed (for final smoothing). The jig that is included for sharpening the 1/2" blades is available separately for those buying our blades for use in Stanley router planes

which implicitly indicates they fit.

Yep, they work. Adjuster sits up pretty high due to extra length but they fit.
