This morning I was at HD and in their "handy-panel" section they had 1/2 inch MDF that was green in color. I asked one of the folks who worked there what was different about the green stuff and got the characteristic "deer in the headlights" response.
Does anybody here know what the story is on this stuff?
Thanks,
Rick

I have seen some green stuff of plywood, but not MDF. The green stuff on plywood is supposed to be for jigs, etc.

I can't find the link, but at least one manufacturer is providing MDF in a whole bunch of colors for the architectural and cabinetry market. There is a thread here on SMC from a number of months ago that contains the link.

It's pressure treated, so you can use it outdoors and in the rain. :D

There is a water proof mdf and I believe the color of it is green. Checkout the shopbot forums, they talk alot about this for outside signs.

The light green MDF I always used for countertops is water resistant Norboard. http://www.norbord.com/MDF_MD_Features.htm
Has some kind of mineral content in it and it's harder on router bits. I've also noticed it's sawdust and grit is slightly irritating to the skin. (my skin at least)
