Pretty neat piece of Black Walnut crotch... I don't think I've ever seen sapwood with curl/figure like this. The collar is a piece of ebonized Walnut w/ lacquer.

This piece is 8" tall and 10-1/2" wide... sanded thru 800 grit and buffed antique oil finish .

All comments - good, bad and ugly - welcomed.

Very nice Mark, how long did it take you to do this piece.

Don't know how many hours, but overall it was several... hollowing this one out, for some reason, took me what seemed like 18 weeks...

That's a great piece. I like the included sapwood, it gives some great interest. Its like I'd want to keep rotating it to see what was happening next.

Mark that is beautiful. I really like walnut that has a little sapwood. Boy does that thing have some curl in the sapwood. Nice job.
