Where around Ft. Worth/Dallas (in addition to Woodcraft) might one find wood blanks/blocks for sale? I've been googling and found little info. Also, I've seen where folks glue four lenghts of 2x2 to make a larger piece, but what glue is recommended for this? I'd like to try different types of wood bonded together to experiment with design appearances.

Thanks

Rockler in Arlington (I-20 and Cooper) has been stocking some pretty good turning blanks lately. They recently went with a new supplier and were able to lower their prices somewhat.

There's also Wood World of Texas in Dallas (http://www.woodworldtx.com/). Haven't been there but I've heard good things. Prices seem kinda proud.

My favorite local source is Curly Woods in McKinney (http://www.curlywoods.com/). His website isn't much but I'm like a kid in a candy store when I go in person. He carries domestics and exotics. Good source for Texas Ebony.

We have a group of local turners planning a field trip to Curly's later this month. PM me if you'd like to go and I'll give you the details.

You might want to try Paxtons (I think the retail unit has a new name but I don't remember it). They are off 360 on Post and Paddack. They use to give turners a 10 percent discount but I haven't been there in a while but it won't hurt to ask.

I'll give a hearty second to Curly Woods. I was in there on Sat. and Mike has some "knock-your-eyes-out" big leaf maple burl as well as a big bunch of other stuff. Luckily since my move I'm about 10 miles from him. Maybe not so lucky.
