I had some fun in the shop this weekend! Jim Ketron had given me a huge slab of Ambrosia Maple last June and I finally got around to welding up an 11" faceplate to hold that big sucka. Finished size is a lil over 23 1/2" diamter by 3 1/4" deep. Buffed gel poly finish (THAT was fun! ).

My guess would be this set of jaws. (http://www.oneway.on.ca/chucks/accessories/tower_jaws.htm)

Lovely look to at, Travis. I am getting ready to tackle wood that large, as soon as I get the Nova set up.

Thanks everyone. Yup, LOTS of fun! :D
Pete, that's actually the Nova Powergrip jaws. http://www.packardwoodworks.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=packard&Product_Code=113117&Category_Code=lathes-acc-fourjaw-noptjaw
I figured it would be easier to mount the chuck on the blank than the other way around. ;)

Not only is that huge... and not only is that a fine piece of wood... but that is a fine, fine platter for any size. The finish looks great on it.

I think it has just the right amount of figure and markings, and your form shows it off well!
