Does anyone have any experience changing bearings in a drill press spindle? I think the old iron drill press I just finished restoring could use new bearings in the spindle. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Darren, touch base with the guys at either OWWM http://www.owwm.com/ or the Practical Machinist http://www.practicalmachinist.com/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi This is everday stuff for some of them.

I did this on my old Homecraft Drill press a few years ago. The bearings were oilite bronze and easily pressed out. I took the old ones to a local bearing distributor and they fixed me up with new ones. I think my total cost was about $10.

Thanks for the links Paul, especially the machinists link. Just had a quick look and they will be another brilliant source of info for when doing maintenance on machinery, cheers.
