What is the practical accuracy required with a planer?
I have a new Grizzly planer that I have gone through all of the calibrations including blade, bed, parallelism, rollers, etc. When I run a 7" wide board through, I get a variation of about 0.050 from side to side. I am using a digital calipers and figure I have measurement repeatability in the .010 range. Not sure if this is considered with in the accuracy range of the equipment or if there is still more work I need to do. Perhaps I am being too anal about it.
What accuracy do you set your equipment up to and what do you feel you need for woodworking?
