I changed out my planar blades tonight, seems like a easy task and it was until I tried to unlock the cutterhead lever. Theres no stop or tab to keep it in the "unlock" position. Everytime I rotate the knives it snaps back into lock position  The instruction manual dosent say anything about locking this out. I could easily bend over the torsion spring arm to where it prevents it to spring back...but thats not right and dangerous if it catches back on.
Anyone else have this planar and have the same problem am I missing something???

thanks

Chris

The cutter lock is held 'off' by the cover that you removed to access it. Quite clever really, if you did try and run the thing without that cover I guess you would shred the drive belt, not your fingers ;)

When you put the cover back on the lock will be disengaged.

ahhh, thanks Ian. The manual dosent even mention that about the cover.

I was about to buy a new planer before I read this post. I could not figure out why my cutter head was locked. Thanks so much.
