Found a KUFO 20" bandsaw on craigslist. Looks like the company is connected with SECO. Any thoughts on the company? Or the bandsaw itself (SK-20BS)?

Only minor negatives from the specs is the aluminum wheels and 2 Hp motor. But I'm sure (if it is in good shape) it would be more than adequate for my hobby needs. A local (based on area code) company sells KUFO to business (Albright Machinery) so sevice might be available, but I don't know if they would deal with little 'ol me.

(the one for sale is green and "a couple years old")

This of course after this ... http://sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=50878

But $800 vs $1200 for a Grizzly 18"...:o

My local Powermatic dealer carries SECO / KUFO and they seem (I haven't owned one) to be as well built as Grizzly.

Only piece of SECO/KUFO equipment I own is a 3hp dust collector and it is a real workhorse. I've had it for 8 years and it has been a solid machine.

Went and took a look at the bandsaw this morning. In general it was in good shape, the thrust bearings were shot. They could barely turn and there were grooves cut into both the upper and lower ones from the back of the blade. A new belt may have helped the vibration. The tires didn't seem in great shape (I'm not sure how soft they should be). All in all I'm sure that it would be fine with some tunning. The biggest negative for me was the lack of miter gauge slot. Another strike was the difficulty of tilting the table. Needless to say it didn't come home with me.

I did pick up a Rockwell 310M laminate trimmer with offset base for $65. There was also a Powermatic 66 for $900 if anyone it interested you can look on craigslist in Los Angeles
