Itunes and Window media player

Just installed Itunes and now Windows Media Player is running funny. When downloading a video, the player opens normally, the video appears on the player screen only it is paused but the audio is playing. If I close the player and re-download the video, it runs perfectly every time.

Additionally, sometimes the player works correctly, but only when the player indicates that it is "finding media" or "buffering" for a few seconds before playing. Seems like that part is missing when the problem occurs.
Its getting annoying and seems like it should be a simple fix.

I have been through the settings for both WMP and Itunes (quicktime is the media player for itunes). Any one know what I can do to fix this?
