Router template question

Will a tempered masonited template accept direct contact of a few light passes of a router bit shank? I need to route 8 pieces with several inside square corners each and prefer to not have the greater radius that a bearing would cause. Some of you have probably tried this, and I'd as soon learn from your mistakes or successes before cutting out the template.

David, this should work fine. Just keep moving, and you could also wax the edge of the masonite (maybe even again 1/2 way through).

Your nose will tell you if there is a problem!
