Cutting on mylar

I've been cutting stencils on PETG, but the odor is horrible!
Someone recommended using mylar, which I have no experience with and no local supplier. Does anyone out there have experience cutting on mylar that could give me some information on thickness preferences (5ml vs. 7ml), and a good supplier?

Where are you? Here in the NW and CA Tap Plastics has it, otherwise go to any big art supply for it. Thickness depends on what it will be used for, for something like airbrushing thin like .005, for wall stenciling as thick as .015
