Not having $150 at the time to go spend on a Wolverine or Kelton jig, I was looking online for jigs that people made themselves and found this.

Seems very simple to make and may hold me over until I get some extra turning cash.
Does anybody see a drawback in this jig that they could point out?

Looks just like a wooden version of the wolverine jig to me. I think it will work just as good. The only drawback I can see it the wood might not last as long as the metal that the wolverine is made of. However, when that happens you can just build a new one.

Thanks Dario. I did make a jig this evening and it works pretty good. Looks much like the one in the links from my earlier post. It's nothing fancy but solid and effective. I now have a nice even grind on all my tools...except the skew which I hone by hand.

The result is all that matters ;)...makes you feel good using a tool you made doesn't it? And you saved a ton of money too!
