I picked up my first piece of old iron on Friday. It's a Rockwell/Delta 15-017 bench top drill press. She's 1/2 horse with a 1/2 chuck and 4+ inch quill stroke. Got it off craigslist for the princely sum of $150.00. All it needs is a good cleaning and some new wiring to 220 and she's good to go. If you have a crappy new Delta bench top drill press from China I suggest you don't look at the pics, you'll cry! I'll post more pics when it's all cleaned up.

Looks like a good one. If you need an owners manual, give delta a call, they will send you one. They can also tell you what year it was made. I recently picked up a 1973 floor model, had to replace the chuck and belt, bit she runs great.

I have this same machine in a floor standing model. After I got it, I got rid of the crappy Delta Benchtop machine.
I would take one of these older machines over a newer model any day.
Great find.

Wow! Nice find. A benchtop with a 4" quill stroke is extraordinary, too!

I cried when I saw it, mostly remembering how much it hurts to pinch your hand when lowering a table with no rack and pinion. Maybe the Chinese model isn't the crappy one?
