BLO question

Looking for a little advice please.

I am fairly new to woodworking especially using hardwoods. I am making LOML a jewelry box for christmas out of curly maple and cherry. Will BLO bring out the figure in the curly maple enough or should I use something else. I prefer to bring out the natural color/figure if possible opposed to dyeing it.

Dave,

As with others here, BLO is my preferred "grain popper". It will bring out the figure in the curly maple and cherry, but it will also darken the wood somewhat. Personally, I like the effect, but try it on some scrap pieces first to see what you think.
