I would appreciate comments and suggestions. I still have not purchased my lathe so I have been playing with my dads mini jet.

Hey Scott - for your second turning/first bowl - I think you have done good! If possible list what kind of wood it is and approx size.

As far as suggestions - just keep turning. Different forms/styles will come with experimentation. Have fun with it!

Honestly I am not sure what kind of Burl it is. My Father is out of town and I found it on his rack... Maybe he wont miss it. :) ze is 3" high and about 6.5" across

Right now, we are living with my parents while our house is being built, so no lathe atleast for three months :( the good news... I was able to talk my wife into increasing our garage space, so I will have a 15' x 23' shop! :) :)

Really nice job! Nothing to suggest other than what's been said. Don't ever stop practicing. That's the fun part! :D

Good job on setting up some shop space. Can't wait to see what you do when you get a lathe of your own.

Scott, if I had a piece of wood like that, I wouldn't forget it. Good luck with that. Nice bowl.

Outstanding work Scott. You asked for comments so I guess you want help. A suggestion I might offer is try to make the inside curve down toward the bottom center on the next one. Your inside with the straight sides is just fine, but if you curve the inside you will find the sanding of the inside easier. I always think the inside of a bowl should match the outside. If you find a book on design most of these will suggest you make your bottom 1/3 the size of the top. Now get back to work, you are a natural.

Thank you all again!

Glenn thank you for your help! I will work on this with the next bowl. Today if I can :) Can anyone suggest a good bowl book?
