I got a call today from a contact at the city saying he had 3 Mesquites I could get if I wanted. So like any good wood turner I went to scout the location on my lunch and sent e-mails rallying the troops.

Their were 2 16 inch logs about four feet long, one 18 inch log about 3 feet long and the monster that was 22 inches in dimater at the smallest point and 27 inches in diameter at the biggest and about six feet long.

Good thing one of the guys had a Husky 455 or we would have never been able to cut the big one. This is 1/5 of the haul. Their were 4 of us and we a donating a share to our local wood club to auction at the desert wood turning roundup next month.

I was glad I got the call my existing wood stash was starting to run pretty low:D .

Mike, great haul. Now we must talk about getting some of it to Tennessee as you can't possibly turn all that:D

I am in the process of turning some mesuite from AZ. I love the color of it. Very smokey looking in the pice that I have. Good luck on aking each individual log into a masterpiece!

By the way you can ship any excess you want to Texas for me :)

Quit bragging...LOL
I only get to say that because I got one of the other shares of the haul. And yeah, it was a haul. Even cut up some of these were two man blanks. We don't get a lot big stuff around here so these were specially exciting.

I am going to assume you are talking about picture 4. The big hunk of yellow wood on the far right is box elder burl. The half log blank that is stacked on another piece next to it is Mystery wood were my best guess is Arizona Ash.

Yeah the big yellow block on the end is box elder burl. The egg shaped one in front fo it is a small mesquite burl from a different haul.
