What is the name of the tools for cutting threads on a dowel and making a wooden nut using a router? Or, is there an easier way of cutting threads on a dowel and making a wood nut?

I bought a threader and tap package at an auction last summer, Not sure of the name, but it only does 3/4". I have never used it but sure thought it looked cool. I will look for the name later.

Dick, that is amazing!!! I googled that name and came up with this, http://www.woodshopdemos.com/beall1.htm and that seems to be the way to thread a dowel. Not even bad on price, found one with three sizes for less than $180.00. Thank you all for your suggestions.

Great link Jon, way too cool. Let me know how it works out, I think I would also like to try this down the road.

The Beall threader works great once it's setup. I would recommend getting the book "The Nuts and Bolts of Woodworking" from Beall, it's got lots of hints and small projects you can make with threaded things.
