About a year ago I saw a few posts here from woodworkers who ordered wood from a company (I think in the eastern USA) and really liked the wood that was sent to them. The selection was good and the price, after shipping, was about what they would have paid if they picked it up at a local lumber shop. At the time I thought, "That's nice..." but now I am moving to the mountains of Utah and my wood sources will be limited so I need to be able to order wood. I tried to find these posts again but was unsuccessful.

Can any of you recommend good sources for domestic and exotic woods? It can be rough wood as I have a planer and jointer. Thanks for the help!

I use Hearne Hardwoods (http://www.hearnehardwoods.com/) in PA. I know they do mail order, but I just drive up there.

Was it Steve Wall lumber? I've been real pleased with what i got from them in the past, both hardwoods and some very pretty 3/4 birch ply. (it measured a true .750") They also sell Baltic Birch plywood.

Brian :)

Thanks for the replies. It was Steve Wall lumber. I looked at their website and that is the site I remember. Thanks! Hearne Hardwoods looks good too. Any others that anyone has had success with?

I assume you are familier with McBeath Hardwoods in Salt Lake City. Pretty large selection I recall, though I haven't been in Utah for quite a while now. They have a web presence at www.macbeath.com

Chris.
I have ordered cocobola from Curlywoods in Texas. Mike Mastin, the owner, is a memeber of Sawmill Creek.
The cocobola that they sent was incredible, in fact I need to take a pic and email them to ask if they have any more of this appearance. Excellent folks to do business with. great communications also.
