I am having so much fun learning to turn, but there sure is a lot to learn. I thought this piece of wood from my neighbor's recycling pile was so pretty. If I am not mistaken, it is sweet gum.

This little paper clip bowl is only about 1 3/4" high and 2" in diameter. I am waiting until I get a lot better before I risk any of the cherry or walnut blanks I have bought from a guy on Ebay

That grain pattern would make some sweet pens!! Hmmmm, sweet gum pens, wonder if people would start to "crib" on their pens. (this is a horse term, ask John what it means!)

That's a purdy little bowl, Dick. I like the coves running opposite the grain orientation. Very neat effect.

That is a beauty Dick. I like the grain on it. You did a nice job on it.

Dick that is a nice little paper clip holder. Don't worry about skill getting better just practice. (It's all wood and grows on trees)

Dick, very nice little bowl! Great looking grain, nice form and I love the way you have the horizontal coves - nice effect!
