But to think that the new owner will have to keep it "new and unused" to maintain that value. It will likely spend the rest of its days in a display case. Nevertheless, it sure looks sweet.

Well a Bedrock 602c went off last night at a little over $2000. I can see the No.72 and No.1 going for those prices but the 602c????

Only a few years ago the 602C was geting well over $3K in crispy condition. Think i paid $35cdn for mine from a local antique dealer :)

Rob...who shoulda sold it when the market was high.

Anyone notice the japanning on the front edge of the #72 appeared to be on the machined surface? The japanning under the knob was all crinkly, too. I'd have bought it, otherwise.

Someone has also listed a No.1 SW in the original box I plan on bidding around $3000 for it but it has already hit $1000 within the first afternoon of listing so I believe that I am out of luck.

I recall reading a few years back that someone I forget who now doubted the existance of an Ohio Tool no 01 as none hadever surfaced to their knowledge, and I gathered at the time he was in a position to know.

Two have surfaced since that I know of and both went well over $1000. I have not as yet seen any of them at a garage sale oddly enough.

I was farting around on e-bay one rainy afternoon. Saw a cherry Stanley no. 1 go for big bucks and asked myself the same question.
E-Bay allows you to link to bidders' home pages. Once there, it's possible to view many items they have won. The interesting hook to this story is that I connected to the winning bidder's home page and determined that this person had purchased approximately $20,000 worth of Stanley #1's and #2's in the past few months!
Crazy man!
Apparently they're trying to corner the market.
