View Full Version : Kelton Hollowing Gate Q's...

My kelton gate just cam back from Lee Valley (wife bought wrong size for Xmas) and when I install it in the banjo the centerline of the tool is about 2 inches above center line of the lathe on my Delta 46-715.

The locking shaft to lock the banjo to the lathe runs through the banjo in such way as to limit the amount of shaft that can be inserted into the banjo.

It appears that I will have to cut the shaft but I wanted to see if other people have had to do similar, prior to cutting it, or is it simply a peculiarity of the combination of my lathe and the gate.

thanks
Bob

I would call tech support BEFORE cutting anything.

I would think the seller will replace it with the right size if you tell them about the problem. Of course if you cannot wait and sure of what you are planning on doing then go ahead. Cutting steel is not easy if you don't have the proper tools (I learned that the hard way LOL).:D

Give Greg Jensen an email:
gnjensen@cox.net
He is the US rep for Kelton, P&N, a super nice guy.
I am sure he can give you some help.

Bob,
I agree with Gordon and others...either contact Lee Valley or let Greg help you out. You shouldn't have to mess with it. I know you're anxious to get going but check to see if they have a solution for you.

Did the lathe mods work for you?

Take care,
Dick

I snapped some pictures to send to Greg so I thought I would put them up here as well.

Dick, I haven't had a chance yet. To much regular life interfering.
