My daughter has one but doesn't want to be the guinea pig. With some research though, I found that it has been done.

I have done both of my kids sony ds's. No worrys. Think of it as a piece of acrylic. Start with low power settings. I have a 30 watt explorer, what worked well for me was a speed of 50 and a power of 20. Dpi didnt really matter because I only engraved thier names. Just my o2!

In case any one reads this. It has been several years since this post was looked at. Here is my advice. Select a material that u think the medium might be made up. Or the closest to it. Then Set the Speed on 100% and the power very very low. U can do multiple passes. And adjust the speed and power accordingly. Less speed= Deeper engraving. More power= More power to go through stronger materials. I use this method and it had only failed me once. And when it failed me it did not matter any ways cause the material was way to tough to be engraved in the first place.
