I searched the forum and found no mention of this new tool.

Except for the guard, this looks like some of the european jointer planers. Under $2500 including a 5hp motor, carbide spiral cutterhead, and freight. They have one under 2k with a regular cutterhead.

I've always wondered how well these types of jointers do with such a short bed.

Ahh, thanks. I searched on G0634 and 634, but not just "Grizzly Jointer Planer" :)

Search features are ornary things sometimes...my search keywords were "jointer/planer + Grizzly" and narrowed to the GW forum since I knew that was where it was.

I hope we see more machines like this as I believe that over time, they will begin to serve the hobbyist woodworker much better than many of the affordable mid-range choices that have traditionally been on the menu.

Pete,
A cabinetmaker friend with a full-time shop uses an Inca combination jointer/thicknesser with a bed that is shorter than that Grizzly, I believe.
I think that the combination makes a lot of sense and wish we'd see more of them (in the mid-range) on this side of the Atlantic.
