I got home from work last night.....UPS had delivered 2 boxes......My Jamieson hollowing rig, video and my new dial caliper.....I'm thinking I may have to screw the Bomb to the diving board....That hollowing rig has some weight to it.

I wonder what I'm going to be doing this weekend?

Nice!! You're gonna love it, Ken. (Do you have the bed extension for your lathe? If not, you're going to have to cobble something up to get the rear support back where you need it to be)

Jim......I have the extension...I've got a bunch of green stuff that I can use this on...including maple, apricot, apple and birch.......I've got some dry stuff too.......My wife might miss me this weekend.......Well....maybe not......

She WILL miss you as hollowing with a captured rig is much, much less tiring...so you tend to forget the clock given the requisite lack of pain!

Jeff....to be totally honest....I probably wouldn't have this but my MIL gave me a very generous Christmas gift with the following restriction....."Get something you want....not something you need".....I really didn't need the hollowing rig....but I sure did want it!

Cool! I bet your house will have hollow forms all over the place in short order! All I received from my MIL was a headache!:D

I'm so jealous you big galoot.

Are you really going to use it on the diving board? I think it's time you built a 1/2 day quick bench. Don't want you to lose any turning time...So build it tonight when you are asleep.;)

But wouldn’t screwing the diving board to the ladders qualify as flatwork, Ken?

Nice score on the hollowing rig, btw!:)

Wow Ken, congrats!!!

Can't wait to see some photos of your setup and first hollowings with your new system! Hopefully after a few times using the system you can give the rest of us some feedback as to what you think of the system, what you like about it, what you would change, etc.

Thinking about one of these systems sometime this year - so your comments carry a lot of weight!

Have fun with it!!!

Hello,

I'm afraid I'm showing my ignorance, but what is a MIL? Unfortuneantely, I have a teenager at home, so I know what a MILF is, just not the MIL here!!! You do not want to know what a MILF is, by the way!!!

Way to go Ken! You're a goner for sure now.:D
A lil tip: Use it on the inside of some bowls to get a feel for how the cutters react and how to orient them to prevent dig-ins. ;)

Congrats Ken. Can't wait to see some HF's now. By the way Travis has a good idea using it on a open bowl first. You can see what is happening.

Ho Ho Ho ... See it pays it be good! Nice gloat Ken!

.....I'm thinking I may have to screw the Bomb to the diving board....

Sounds like it or as Mr. Hoyt sez your lathe might fly right off that piece.

I wonder what I'm going to be doing this weekend?

I'm going with not mow the lawn.
