Hello I have not posted before so hoping I am correct in doing so.

I am seeking information about Simonds # 8 handsaw. The web sites I have found so far don't seem interested in providing information.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance
Eddie

You're in the right place, Eddie, but I don't know a source for Simmonds info. There's a wealth of information on Disston at vintagesaws and disstonianinstitute.com. At least by looking at the pictures, you may get a good idea as to when your saw was made. Pete Taran at VintageSaws.com may have some old Simmonds for sale you could compare to. He also has the book, "Hand Saw Makers of North America", if you're really interested.

Welcome to the slippery slope. I got started with an old Disston D8 I bought in an antique shop. It is fascinating to use tools made in an era when hand tools dominated.

"the old tools shop" has reprints of classic catalogs...and I believe Simonds saws was one of them...
