Hi there everyone! Great site here, I found it while doing some comparison shopping for a new TS. I haven't had one since I moved from my parents house before college (graduated from college in 2004) and was only able to work wood begging and borrowing tools.

I bought my place in mid 2005, mostly because of the 900 sq ft shop in the back yard. It came fully equipt with a bathroom (shop sink, toilet, water heater) BIG gas heater, double paned windows, insulated door and garage door. Oh, and nearly 2500lbs of scrap metal, and almost 3 FULL 30 yard dumpsters of random garbage....

Fear not, I have cleaned, fixed, remodeled, painted, repainted and fixed again the house and yard for the last year. I am finally to a point where I can enjoy the shop. You can see first my new TS, which after much searching I could not pass up for the recent craftsman club price.

I spent nearly 14 hours setting it up, mostly due to the fact that it was initially impossible to align the miter slots and blade. I will post a bit on epinions about it. Long story short the table top came on and off a dozen times to enlarge holes to allow alignment. From the factory the blade hit the underside of the table when being raised....

Anyhow, I mostly work on older IH Scouts, have lots of them, and prefer to work in cherry. Immediate plans will be a saw blade box, shown in progress on the saw, lots of honey-do's on the house, then finishing a hall table I have 80% done, getting into night stands, and a bed. All the while finishing a restoration on the scout in the background :D Anyhow, enough with the typing, and on to the pics. I have lots more, so let me know if you have any requests! An don't worry, I have LOTS of work to do on the shop too... ;)http://farm1.static.flickr.com/142/360185486_e78af6ffff.jpg?v=0

My shop is a total disaster, which drives me NUTS, so I will post more, clean pics when I get settled in. Turns out the table saw took up a lot of room :D

The beginnings of my wood area...

Welcome Tom, the vast majority of folks really do use their last names. That is what makes this place more of a family environment rather than just a forum on woodworking.

Welcome Tom. Did you call Orion (800 #) about the top? I had a problem with an extension wing and they had it to me in a couple days. After all your prep efforts I'll bet you'll be glad to get in some shop time. The IH stuff looks very cool. Glad to see someone breathing life into those beasts.

Tom..........As Dan stated....the Terms Of Service (TOS) for this site require a real name for members. A lot of people consider registering using a "fake name" an "IN YOUR FACE" move....and are not comfortable with it.
I'm sure if you send Jackie Outten or Keith Outten a PM they can change your name and you'll get a lot more responses and be heartily welcomed! It's using real names that helps give this place it's flavor!
