I am looking at building a tenoning jig and came across these plans:

http://www.plansnow.com/tenon.html

Has anyone used these plans and how did it turn out?

Thanks.

quite a bit simpler, but I'm happy with it.

Here is the design:

Tim,

I have not seen that plan, but check out this thread. http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=47602 I posted a picture of a jig I made along with contact info for the fellow who designed. He sent me the plans for free.

There is also a free plan here. http://www.bobsplans.com/FreeJigPlans/TenonJig/TenonJig.htm

God luck.

I like your jig Jonathan. I have the Delta, but your version would let me do wider material than the Delta. I'm going to have to build one.

Tim, buy the "10 best table saw jigs" by plannow. Downloading means you get them quickly. The price is right. Also, sign up for their newsletter and you get discounts on other plans plus free downloads of some of their plans. I think you will be pleased. Paul

Johnathan,

Your jig looks great and I think I may try and replicate it. Thanks to all that replied.

So please allow me to ask the dumb question. I'm a firm believer is using what you have, up to a certain point. I have a radial arm saw set up with a dado cutter making some tennons. To me, it seems fast enough and of high enough quality. So for me, I'm content and buying/building one of these jigs would be just somethine else my wife can point to and shake her head. Is there a level of increased quality/speed in operating one of these? The only down side I see to my set up is that the tennons are a little rougher than I'd like, due to the dado's cutting pattern. I'm the knuckle head who had a little run in with a jointer recently so I have an increased awareness of a machines ability to injure. Such a home made jig looks a little unstable, unlike the 30# commercially avaialble ones, and fear that something light kick out on it. Just wondering.

Hi Tim,

I got the plans and built it out of MDF. It works great! Great repetative cuts and its accurate.

Be sure to follow the plans carefully.
