Thanks for that -- got a bandsaw which I really needed. Coulda saved $100 if I had 3ph power.

Wow, thanks Mark. I just scored the last metal/wood cutting bandsaw with 1 phase power. That is a fantastic buy, I have always wanted one of those but never wanted to pay the price. The beauty of it is the super slow speeds it will go making it a great tool for knifemakers. Also for cutting fiberglass which I will be doing a lot of. Now I need to sell my barely used HF (which for the price has been a great little saw). Thanks again!!

I bought the shaper last week at $999. It arrived today. Delta 43-460.

Hey Mike. You suck. Especially with taking the 3-phase plunge. I hope to do that in the future when I have a permanent shop. Have you bought any cutters yet? What are you planning to make? In know you bought the router bit spindle. How fast can it turn? It will be interesting to see the three-phase in action.

My $799 uni is being delivered tomorrow and the big dust collector next week. I'll be marrying the uni, my current contractor's saw, benchdog router table wing, harbor freight wing, two bolt-on wings, and the incra ts-3 waiting in the garage. I'll have pics of all that and the new monster dust collector when it gets here next week.

Most of the $799 unis are arriving this week. Should be a fun weekend for a lot of people.

By the way, I signed up for this automated amazon price notification thingy. Today, it pointed out a price drop on the big jet floor standing spindle sander with free shipping. It's within $100 of the grizzly model now after you pay shipping. If it comes down more, I may have to snap that up. They're nearly identical. The big powermatic belt/disk sander with the big cabinet base also dropped in price.

How do you know the "$799 Unis are arriving this week?"

I wish I had seen this thread yesterday when the single phase bandsaw was still available.

Is there some way to get the early scoop on this stuff besides reading the forum every five minutes?

You just need to check Sawmill Creek & Woodnet.net several times a day.:D

I first learned about the uni deal on woodnet. People post about it here also, but I think woodnet gets more of that sort of thing. Now, they're talking about their saws and dust collectors showing up this week.

That amazon link to the delta sale used to contain a $799 single phase unisaw with no fence or side table. It also contained a 5hp 4800cfm single phase delta dust collector for $669, which is about half of the grizzly equvalent. That one should be arriving for me next week. :) It also had Mike's shaper. If it had had a 12" turret single phase radial arm saw, I would have jumped on that one as well. I wish they had sanders also. We'll see. There's always a few deals like this every year.

I saw this on the Amazon page that was linked:

Delta is rolling out some new models, so here is your opportunity to get incredible closeout prices on solid tools from one of the best brands in woodworking power tools.

Which begs these questions: What new models is Delta coming out with? Does this have anything to do with the rumor that Delta is shifting their manufacturing back to the U.S. (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=44286&)?

That's a good question.

I seriously doubt it. My bet is that they have all new designs that well be kept secret or somehow protected through contracts or patents. Now that places like grizzly and yorkcraft are copying all the delta designs, they need a way to differentiate. If they truly innovate and make some new breakthrough designs, that would be spectacular. That would be capitalism and the patent/copyright system working exactly as designed.

There was a post (http://sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=48193) for a Unisaw sale the Friday before Christmas. It was listed at $899.99 in the morning, but then jumped up to $1863 by lunch time. Today it's $1139.99 with free shipping. Woodworker's Supply still has it listed at $1699.99.

How good a deal do you think this is? How much can I get out of my C-Man (http://sawmillcreek.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=15699&d=1107313594) Contractor's saw? Could I get anything out of The Bies fence (I have an Incra (http://sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=48560) now). Better to sell the C-Man w/ the Bies?

It sounds like a good deal to me. I paid $799 for no fence or side table. So it's basically $340 for a unifence

I doubt you'll get much for your contractor's saw. I have an american made delta platinum edition contractor's saw. I was guessing $500. It was $900 new, but that was before the chinese invasion. You can almost get a new one for that now.

Looking like it does, being a craftsman, and without a fence, I'd guess maybe $200. It probably depends on where you are. I'm certainly no expert.

I opted to keep my contractor's saw and bolt it to the unisaw so I'd have a permanently installed dado stack. I have a freud dial-a-width dado waiting for that setup.

I was told it was better to sell my saw and unifence separately. I'd get a higher price than if they were together. I plan on keeping my unifence in case I want to switch back to it later. Plus I eventually plan to end up with a monster bandsaw for resawing. I thought about trying to attach the unifence to that.

Like a riving knife perhaps? I'm not saying they are or aren't, I have no way of knowing. But I am leaning heavily towards the PM2000 primarily for this feature. A modestly appointed Sawstop is way out of my budget, but the riving knife and integrated mobile base are worth the extra cost above and beyond that of a Uni.
