...with bark inclusion. Has really great colors and I'm happy the inclusion didn't comprimise the structural integrity.

6-1/4" x 4" tall, 2-3/4" at the bottom

thanks for looking

Nice work Bob, really like the shape , how much pucker factor goes into turning something like that? I'd be holding my pucker the whole time on the lathe:eek: :D , half of one good catch and I'd be done....:o

Wonderful finish on that. I like the shape too. How do you buff a piece like that down inside? Nice, artsy looking.

Thanks guys.

Finish is Watco Danish and buffed. Was sanded to about 400grit.

Paul, it's not so bad turning it, sanding and buffing is far more nerve racking. I find it's easier to have a mistake there than with the gouge or scraper.

Rich, I did the inside with one of the Beall ball buff, unfortunately with the size I have didn't make it all the way down to the bottom.

Thanks

Looks like a lily of some kind.

Hmmm...some less figured maple, some cutting and carving, and some purple dye....hmmmm

That sounds like an idea.

Interesting form Bob! Has sort of a flower effect. Your finish highlights the grain and inclusions - nice job!
