Clamp Cart

Von, I thought you would be over run with shots by now. This shot is really crude as I just ran out and took this in the middle of the mess. Sorry, but I think you can get the idea. It is just 2x4 studs with a few 1x4s that I threw together in desperation one night. The dimensions are about 7' high with a 2x3' base. I don't remember whose casters but they are decent ones.

Here is my clamp cart. It is similar to David's in that it is just 2X4s and plywood. Nothing fancy, but it works. It is 50" high so it can fit under my shelves in my shop. I think, around 2X3 on the base.

Here is a picture of a clamp cart I put together. Plans are from Shop Notes Vol 8, Issue 46. Do not skimp on the wheels as the cart is heavy once the clamps are stored.

Thanks to David, Dan and Jerry for the pictures. I picked up some casters and 2X4's to-day. I will probably go with something similiar to David's or Dan's design. Jerry's design would be out-of-place in my old simple shop.

I sure wish I would have won those free casters last week....

You've got to look more closely. There is not one motor but two! Since the front wheels swivel, I figured more power could be used there as there is no differential. The front of the cart has a 2HP motor while the rear only has a 1. Does that seem logical? I thought of putting the 2HP in the rear only, but I didn't want Bessies to fly when and if it popped a wheelie. I haven't hooked them to power yet as I still don't know where to put the switches. Since they are direct drive with no clutch or anything should I start the front or rear first? As you can see I am somewhat new to this dual engine idea. It does help to have another power tool. It is really a shame to have to drag around a cart when I have a couple of spare motors.

I really do appreciate the admiration vote though. One thing that makes me nervous though is how you know me this well. :cool: (disguise)

David, who would take 5 years to figure out how to hook up a mess like this

I built Norm Abram's clamp cart
Most of the clamps aren't on it because it's tool heavy to get back into the garage with them all on board. So removed most of the clamps before taking it outside to photograph.
