Length of face on Veritas twin screw vise

I am building a workbench. I own a Veritas twin screw vise system that I want to mount to the end of a Grizzly 30 x 60 inch Maple workbench top. With a front apron, the end of the top will be 32 inches wide. The max allowed screw to screw distance is 16-7/8 inches. If I add a 32 by 2 inch face to the vise, each end will extend about 7-1/2 inches from the screw. Will this create problems? Would it be better to use a shorter face for the vise and mount it to one side of the end of the workbench?

My solution for your vise length problem would be to talk to the Lee Valley people and arrange an exchange for the 24" vise. IF they agree, the 24" model is only $10 more than the smaller model.
