I was going to do the "Hi, my name is Neal and I'm a woodturner" schtick but Gary beat me to it.
First time posting here. See a few familiar names who are probably thinking "there goes the neighborhood". Sorry guys.
I was referred to this site after asking dust collection questions on "another site". Guess its time to do a few searches here and see what good stuff I can find.
In the meantime, may as well throw a pic out there. Here's my latest work.
Tulipwood and Blackwood. 6-1/2" x 4-3/4". Sanded to 800, buffed, and finished with Seal-A-Cell.

Neal,
I like this piece; it is pleasing to the eye.
Is the cross has special meaning?
Welcome from a newbie.

Thanks folks!
Bruce, the blackwood piece on top is the lid. The fit is a 1/4"H tenon seated in the 1-1/4"W opening in the vessel.
Ken, thanks for the welcome! Don't know how I've missed this forum. It looks like a good one.
Gordon, this piece is a birthday gift for MIL. The cross is a little add-on especially for her.

Very nice, Neal. If I am not mistaken, your beautiful turned piece was also featured on the AAW home page recently. Since you live locally, I would like to invite you to visit the Woodturners of North Texas (http://www.wntx.org) next meeting which will be on Thursday, January 25 at 6:30 PM at the R. D. Evans Community Center which is about 2 miles south of Ridgmar Mall on Lackland Rd. I don't know what the January program will be yet, but it is always an interesting demonstration.

Bill, thanks for the invite. I've been meaning to join WNT for at least the last 6 months. This month's meeting falls on the wife's birthday but she is insisting I go anyway (maybe her idea of a good birthday is to get me out of the house?). If I can get over the guilt I'll try to make it. I'm still fairly new at this, self-taught, and have a lot to learn.
Thanks to all for the welcome and the nice comments!
