The work bench - I just finished this a few days ago. It's made from dimensional construction grade lumber from Lowe's, with a 3" thick work surface made from 3 layers of 3/4" MDF lamindated together with 3/4" thick utility grade oak flooring on top and trimmed out in White Oak. I finished it using Golden Oak Watco Danish oil and 4 layers of Watco Glossy Polyurethane. On top sits my new Craftsman Variable Speed grinder until I can find a better home for it... I just unpacked it. My new Akeda Jig and Delta Mortiser sits underneath (now that I sharpened the Mortiser chisels, it works fantastically):

That's about it. The only 2 things that I really want are the dust collector and a drill press. The drill press will come next.

Thanks for everyone's help with my recent purchases. I counld't have made so many good purchases without this site's great advice.

Very nice shop. You're way ahead of me. I see gome good ideas there, especially the work bench. Nice job. Thanks for sharing.

My garage still has to house two cars in addition to my tools.

Nice shop Tim. I'm just refinishing a re-org of my shop and always on the lookout for some good ideas. And now that we're moving into a new house later this year, I'll get to do it all over again! Doh!

There is no sawdust on anything in your shop/garage. Whats up with that?

It's amazing what happens when you actually clean something.

In all seriousness, I made a real effort to get it as clean as possible before applying the Poly to the work bench. I normally stain and finish in the basement, but the workbench was too heavy to move, so I had to do it in-place; therefore, I didn't want all the saw dust around that could be kicked up and settle while the Poly was drying.

Thanks for all the kind comments.

Tim,

Looking good. Great job on the bench and cool use of the flooring for the top. My shop hasn't changed much but I guess I should get off my duff and post some pics.

Nice job!! I am in the middle of redoing my shop and need a good wood rack. What did you use for supports and how much weight will it handle?
