A Duro Drill Press purchased in the mid to late 50's.

I forgot to take a picture before I cleaned it up & painted it.

That's pretty cool Bart. I like the retro Art Deco lines and styling it has.

Nice Resto' job.

That's a beauty, Bart! Those older DPs, like a lot of tools of the era, had "style"!

Now you have more tools than fingers and toes:) Neat job of bringing it back to life.

I still need to work the starting circuit over on the motor but don't think it will be a problem.

I only took 2 hours to clean up the drill-press & paint it a re-assemble it.

I thought it was huge too until I noticed it was sitting on your bench!

I love the look and lines of those old tools. Maybe I'll find something like it at the woodworking machinery auction I'm going too on Feb. 3. If anyone is in the area PM me and I'll let you know where it is. Actually Bart, you might be close enough for it to be worthwile.

Great job. My dad has a floor standing Delta with similar styling that he got from his dad who bought it new. Still going strong and has a quality you just don't find in new DPs.

Whoa!! I have one just like it - I brought up to my summer home in Maine some years back and it sits in my tool shed - I have not used it in a while, but for a long time it was my only drill press - I "inherited" from a high school buddy's father - about 30 years ago - I also have his original table top 71/4" saw that is still in working condition and which I still use when I don't have my Ridgid job site saw up there - small world.

I ended up needed a new motor the bushings & start mechanism are worn out in the original 1/3 HP GE motor. I just happened to have an older Wards 1/3 HP motor in the shop & it is now mounted on the Drill-press however it is heavier than the original motor. So I am in the process of making a bigger base to bolt the drill-press to. It is 4' tall & about 19" x 20" & will have the switch mounted in the front & a drawer beside it. I will post pictures when finished.
