Dear All,

Here is the little cherry Shaker style clock I have been working on now
finished.

http://members.rogers.com/dfeisan/images/done1.jpg

The clock is 27" tall, 10" wide and 5" deep.

I fumed the clock with 26% blueprint ammonia for 36 hours then finished with
three coats of 1:1:2:2, BLO:Tung:Turps:Poly, flooded on, left 20 mins and
wiped off.

Thanks,

David.

Every neighbourhood has one, in mine, I'm him.

David, great clock job, what works, pendulum length and where purchased ? What's next, a grandfather, wish someone would and guide me on a modified oversized grandmother with a Hermle works and 10- 1/2" bob Lyre pendulum. I'll work up the nerve someday. Bobby

Outstanding, David, simply outstanding! The fuming process really worked well. I may have to try it on one of my projects someday.

BRILLIANT!!!!!!!

I really like the way that turned out. that fuming is the way to go. especially given the fact that pics never show the true beauty of the wood!

1) Does your clock have a 2nd hand?

2) Where does one buy 26% blueprint ammonia?

BTW- Great job! I've been interested in the process from your earlier pics- thanks for the follow-up!

Absolutely Beautiful. I am working on a cradle now for some expecting friends and it is the first time that I have used cherry. I really like how it works. Hopefully I can pull of a finish as good looking as yours.

Great Work!,
Rob

Hello Everyone,

>>>what works, pendulum length and where purchased?

I bought "46K0107" from Lee Valley that has the works and pendulum in one package, the pendulum is 16" long.

>>>Will you be fuming more wood in the future?

Yes, I have a QSWO table that has been sitting around here for a couple years waiting to be finished. I am also going to be making a thin hall table out of cherry that I am for sure going to fume as well.

>>>Where did you get your plans for your clock?

I made the plans up. I expect to have an article with plans published in a ww'ing magazine in a couple of months.

>>>1) Does your clock have a 2nd hand?

Yes it does. I bought "46K0517" from Lee Valley that included the face and hands.

>>>2) Where does one buy 26% blueprint ammonia?

I hope this doesn't come off as sounding like a smart alec answer, but, at a blueprint shop! Locally, I have a place called Mercury Blueprinting that I purchased it from

>>>Tried to stop by last Thursday for a look see but you weren't home.

Sorry I missed you Mike, I hope to see you this weekend.

Thanks everyone for the kind words,

David

Didn't take it as smart "alec"- I had never heard of "blueprint" ammonia and would not have thought a blueprint shop would sell such as a rule. Thanks for the tip.
