Can anyone tell me if Woodsmith or Shopnotes has a design for a crosscut sled and if so what magazine #?

Thanks, Todd

Tod,

I was going to post the same link that Ted did. May I "tag along" on this thread a bit? I wonder if there are any plans out there for a sled that works for dadoes also? I think the slot for the blade would have to be adjustable and that would require some sort of bar well over the blade to hold things rigid, so it might wind up like a Rube Goldberg contraption. But it would be useful, wouldn't it? I hate to forgo the use of the sled when I am cutting dadoes.

P.S. I have an Incra 1000SE miter gage/fence, but it isn't quite the same as using a sled for some things.

The sled I'm currently working on handles blade changes, dados, etc. with an exchangeable insert along the blade path. I stole (borrowed) this idea from someone on this forum. Thanks, whoever you were.

Go to the Woodnet Forum and on 1/4/07 there are several pictures of a great sled. Made one in a couple of hours and really works good.

That would be Mark Marzluf. Look for him and his posts and you'll find it. Nice sled, great design.

Go to www.forums.woodnet.net (http://www.forums.woodnet.net) and to a search for sleds.

I have been an advocate of using a single miter slot runner on a cutoff sled. A side benefit of this approach is that one can use one miter slot for ZC work and the other slot for dadoes and bevels.

Their is a real nice plan for building a cross cut sled in the current shops and tools issue of fine woodworking tauntan press, you can pick up at all home stores, seemed like a nice and easy design in my eyes.

Having an accurate sled and a good blade in the saw is a big step towards better woodworking
