Offset router table

I was wondering what advantage the offset router table gives. The only thing I can think of is wider stock could be cut.

I am still investigating building the cabinet. I am not sure I have what it takes to get the table flat if I build it.

The fence style you use will dictate the way you configure the router position on it. If you choose one of the incremental systems (Incra, Jointech), you need the offset table style to accommodate the fence action. A "traditional" split fence works better with a center-mounted router in most, but not all, situations.
