I turned this platter tonight and just wanted to post. Dimensions are 11 1/2 x 2 1/2. Was a booger to keep from splitting. Light cuts. Sanding sealer and some buffing. The broken looking area on the right side is actually worm holes.

John, great platter! I've never been a big fan of cedar, but I must say that piece looks beautiful.

Nice looking piece of wood and a good job with the turning. Only cedar piece I ever turned was fairly nice to turn. No problem with chipping or splitting.

Very nice John! I have a friend who has a bunch of cedar he wants to unload on me. I've been turning him down....but maybe....

Nice job John. I've found that heat is the biggest enemy to cracking when it comes to cedar. You obviously did a great job of keeping it cool. :)

That is a nice platter John. I really like working with cedar. Works nice and smells good in the shop.

I wish I could make the pics larger?I'm going to post this link here rather than PM it. This way others may have the opportunity to take advantage as well. It is small, simple and powerful. I've been using it for years and couldn't do without it. Download the program and plug-ins.:) http://www.irfanview.com/main_download_engl.htm

Try using a higher resolution and compressing the pic to meet the size limit.
