Quite some time ago I saw some kind of box that could be described as a "tuner box". I really don't remember what they were called, but they were very interesting. They kind of resembled a tuning fork for lack of a better description. It was a box with cuts into that were at different lengths. If any one knows what these are called and where I could find out more about them, I would appreciate it.

Is it some version of a thumb piano? Google on that name for pix.
Or maybe you mean a tongue drum.

Also try a Google search for Aztec Slit Drum...this may be what you were looking at. I've made several, and they are a hoot to play.
Good Luck!

Here's a site with some pretty advanced tongue drums: http://www.acousticopia.com/tongue_drums.htm
