I am building the Pentz cyclone using a 5HP Leeson motor. My basement is around 98" high to the top of the joists. Does anyone have any pictures they can share where they mounted their blower up to or in between the joists? I am hoping to do this only once and also avoid vibrating the house. Am I better to attach to the joists or make a bracket against the wall?

Rick, I know there's one in here, You'll have to look though the gallery.Clearvue's are based on a Pentz design. Besides there are a lot of great idea's up there,

Here's a shot of mine with the motor up between the joists...it's a commercial unit, but should give you the information you need:

Thanks for the feedback so far. Any recommendations in regards to vibration if is matters whether the cyclone is mounted to a wall or joists?

The best way to isolate from vibration would be to use a stand mounted on the floor. The wall would be 2nd best. If noise transmission is a problem you could mitigate by using some vibration mounts.

Jim, so you only use two brackets mounted to the wall and upper blower housing? Is that a studed wall? I actually have a couple of 20" brackets similar to what is in your picture but I was planned to support where the cone meets the cylinder. Ideally I would like to mount the motor so I can assemble the cyclone piece by piece or take it apart if I have to.

Rick, are you in a basement or do you have attic space above you? I have my cyclone mounted half way up into the small "attic" space (4' tall at center). You can see a couple pictures in this thread: http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=14427&page=2&highlight=COOLMEADOW It allowed me to run my ductwork above the joists, with a little work, because I have 7' 7" ceiling height. It is working well for my TS. Don't have the BS hooked up yet, though I just got the 4" flex in to finish that run. I mounted my motor mounting plate to a separate stand, and I get no vibration in the walls at all. I have it isolated from the floor as well with some of the heavy duty shipping foam that Ed packs around his units for shipping. Seems to do the job, and a whole lot cheaper than the isolation mounts, though they aren't that expensive, and several people say they work very well. Hope this helps! Let us know what your final solution is. Jim.
