I'm looking for a dado blade and Woodworkers supply has the SD206 for $79.18 and the SD208 for $59.35. Isn't the 8" better than the 6"?

Presumably, it's better, but only if you need to do cuts deeper than you can with the 6" set. I get the sense that you don't need the extra diameter all that often (it's 1" extra depth).

I've always been told that it has more to do with the power of your saw. If a contractors type with a 1-1/2HP go with the 6". If a larger TS like a Cabinet then go with the 8". I have the SD208 and it is a nice unit, not as nice as the WoodWrkers or the SD508, but then again at that price it is pretty dang nice. i picked mine up recently for about the same price and used it two weeks ago for the first time. Did all I can ask of it. I believe th 8" is also used when you have a radial arm saw.

Finally, in all my years of having a dado blade, I have never needed to make a cut deeper then 3/4", so capacity of a 6 would have never been an issue. Since my saw can handle a 8" and the price was lower, I went that route.

Is it possible that there is a typo or mistake? Normally, the 8" is $20 more than the 6".

No Howard, I went ahead and ordered the 8" and it came out to $67 and change with shipping. I don't know why they are priced the way they are. They have more of the 8" on hand too.

I bought mine on clearance locally for the same price. I wonder if freud is getting rid of the model since they have the new dial-a-dado out.
