Can any of you recommend a good book(s) on finishing? I would especially like one that describes lots of tricks for specific finishes etc. I was thinking of Jeff & Sue Jewitt's book by taunton press. Any opinions?

Cheers,
Nick

Bob Flexner's Understanding Wood Finishing is probably the best at giving the technical stuff you need to put together your own choices, though he does give some specific suggestions too. The problem with suggestions that are too specific is that wood is all a bit different so that things don't always come out the same as when the particular schedule was created. But Jeff Jewitt does have some very good books on finishing for different looks.

Jewitt and Flexner are 2 of the best. Jeff has several books plus a good website w forum.

I recommend two. One is Jeff Jewitt's Taunton Complete Illusrated Guide to Finishing and the other is Bob Flexner's Understand Wood Finishing. Both are excellent and only partially redundant. I suggest getting both.
